A palate cleanser should be neutral in flavor and leave a more-or-less blank slate for your next wine. You don’t want anything with particularly bold, salty, sweet, or acidic flavors. Think bland. This doesn’t need to be your local bakery’s sourdough rye. In fact, it shouldn’t be.
