How to Turn a TikTok Sound Into Your Ringtone or Alarm on iPhone

TikTok is known for its ability to make a sound go viral, it’s one of the reasons the app has become so popular. Not only do musicians get exposure this way, but amateur audio editors can also have their moments of fame.
If you’re a frequent user of TikTok, chances are you’ve become obsessed with one of these sounds at some point, and you might have wondered how you can use it outside of the app.
Well, you can turn your favorite TikTok sounds into an alarm or ringtone on your iPhone, and we’re going to show you how.
How to Make a TikTok Sound Your Ringtone
With the help of a few apps, you can make any TikTok sound into a ringtone. Let’s jump right into the steps…
Step 1. Find and Download the TikTok Sound You Want to Use
To save a sound from TikTok on your iPhone, open the TikTok app and find the video with the sound you want to use. Tap the Share icon and select Save Video to download it to your camera roll.
Before downloading, watch the video through to ensure that there’s no additional, unwanted audio from the creator, or that you’re not downloading a remix of the audio.
If the creator has their downloads turned off, there are ways to save TikToks outside the app, but screen recording is the quickest way:
- On the TikTok video, tap the audio at the bottom right represented by a spinning vinyl icon. You’ll be directed to a page with the sound at the top and all the videos that have used that sound underneath it.
- Depending on your iPhone model, either swipe up or down to access the screen recorder from the Control Center. Press the circled icon to start screen recording. Here’s a full guide on how to use the screen recording function on iPhone if you need a refresher.
- Hide the Control Center and then play the TikTok audio by tapping on its play icon. Do it quickly to prevent the first few seconds of the video from having no audio.
- Once you get to the end of the audio, end the screen recording, and it’ll save the video to your camera roll.
Another good tip is to “favorite” the sounds you like:
- Find then open the audio by tapping the spinning vinyl icon.
- Tick Add to Favorites.
- To access your favorite audios, go to your profile, tap the flag icon in the top panel, and select Sounds.
This way, you can store all your favorite audios and have quick access for future use.

Step 2. Convert the Video to Audio
There are two methods to convert a video to audio on iPhone: file converter apps and file converter sites.
If you’re willing to download a file converter app, here’s what you need to do:
- Download the MediaConvert app and launch it.
- Tap the plus (+) sign at the top and select Import From Photos Library.
- Select the video or screen recording you’ve just saved and tap Done.
- In the MediaConvert library, locate the video and tap the encircled i next to it.
- Select Extract Audio.
- You’ll be directed to an export screen. Here, you can trim the video (we recommend trimming off the end of the TikTok logo), adjust the volume, and select your exporting options.
- Set the Format to mp3. You can leave the rest as is.
- Tap the Share icon at the top. An “Extract Audio” dialog box will pop up where you can rename your audio.
- Hit OK. It’ll save the converted audio file to the MediaConvert library.
If you don’t want to download an app:
- Go to the Online Converter site. Keep in mind that we are using the Safari mobile browser for this.
- Select Choose File > Photo Library.
- Select the video or screen recording you’ve just saved and hit Choose.
- Check the Options box to enable the Audio quality customization, and select the quality you want.
- Tap Convert. You’ll be directed to a new window.
- Right under Conversion Completed, tap and hold Download Now, select Download Linked File, and it will save the audio file to your browser downloads folder.
- Alternatively, tap once on Download Now and select Download from the popup. You might get redirected to an ad doing this.

Step 3. Save the Audio to the Files App on Your iPhone
It’s important to get the sound you downloaded from TikTok into the Files app on your iPhone because you can only import it to GarageBand from Files in the next steps.
If you’ve used the MediaConvert app in the previous step:
- Locate the converted audio file in the MediaConvert library.
- Tap the i next to it.
- Select Send/Open In.
- Select Save to Files from the popup.
- Choose the folder you want to save it to and hit Save.
If you’ve used Online Converter in your browser in the previous step:
- Open your browser Downloads folder (arrow icon in the browser panel).
- Open the audio file you’ve just downloaded and tap the share icon.
- Select Save to Files from the popup.
- Choose the folder you want to save it to and hit Save.
Since Online Converter automatically names the file, you might want to locate it in the Files app and rename it before continuing.
Step 4. Import the Audio to GarageBand
Download the GarageBand app and launch it. Then follow these steps:
- Hit the plus (+) sign at the top right to open a new project.
- Scroll to Audio Recorder and open it.
- In the Audio Recorder window, tap the tracks icon at the top left (looks like a stack of bricks).
- In the Tracks window, tap the loops icon at the top right (looks like a swirled line). You’ll be directed to a library.
- Ensure you’re in the Files tab at the top, then open Browse items from the Files app at the bottom.
- Select the audio you’ve saved to your files and wait for it to appear in the library.
- Hold down on the file, wait for the Tracks window to reappear, and drag the file into the first track to the beginning of the timeline.
- You can turn off the metronome by tapping the triangle icon while you’re at it.
Step 5. Loop the Audio
iPhone has a ringtone duration of 40 seconds, and unless your audio is longer than that, you’re going to have to loop it. If it’s already long enough, skip this step.
- In the Tracks window, tap the small plus (+) sign at the right of the time bar.
- Select Section A.
- The number next to Manual determines how many bars there will be in the track. For reference, 8 bars are around 16 seconds long. Hit Done after setting your bars for around 40 seconds.
- Select the audio clip and tap it once to bring up a popup, then select Copy.
- In the same track, tap on the empty space next to the clip and select Paste from the popup.
- Hold down on the pasted duplicate clip and drag it right next to the first clip. Repeat this process until all your bars are filled.
- When done, play the audio back to ensure you’re satisfied with the results, then tap the downwards arrow at the top left and select My Songs. This will save your looped audio to the GarageBand library.
Step 6. Export the Looped Audio and Set It as Your Ringtone
Now you can finally turn your TikTok sound into your ringtone. Follow these steps:
- From the GarageBand home screen, locate the project you’ve just saved and hold down on it.
- Select Share and then Ringtone.
- Name the ringtone if you’d like and hit Export.
- In the prompt popup, select Use sound as and then Standard Ringtone (you can also assign the ringtone to a specific contact from this popup).
If you want to ensure that your ringtone is successfully changed, or if you want to change it back, go to the iPhone Settings > Sounds & Haptics > Ringtone, and you should see your new audio listed near the top.
