How to Type a Degree Symbol on an iPhone or iPad

Wondering how to get the degree symbol (°) on your iPhone or iPad? If so, you’re not alone. While the Apple keyboard does have a degree symbol, most people don’t know where to find it. Luckily, it’s easy to find, and once you know how to find it, you won’t forget it.

The degree symbol on an iPhone or iPad is available on every language keyboard, so you won’t need to add a new keyboard either. If you want to type a degree symbol, here’s how.


Tap and Hold to Reveal the Degree Symbol

To type the degree symbol on your iPhone or iPad, you first need to have the keyboard open. Once it’s open, tap the Numbers (123) button in the bottom left-hand corner.

Once here, all you need to do is tap and hold on the Zero (0) and an option will come up to type the Degree (°) symbol. Simply slide your finger over this symbol to add it to the text.

This works in Notes, Messages, Safari, and every other app on the iPhone or iPad. If you’re interested in adding more icons to your iPhone or iPad, you can also install a third-party keyboard.

When Should You Use the Degree Symbol?

The degree symbol is helpful for writing out temperatures without having to say “degrees,” saving time and text space.
