How to Block and Report Users on the Xbox One and Xbox Mobile App

Multiplayer gaming can be a lot of fun, though sometimes you’ll run into unpleasant people. If you play on Xbox, here’s how you can block them.

Online gaming is a great way to make friends and have a more enjoyable multiplayer experience, but this isn’t always the case.

Sometimes you can come across players who you are best off blocking and/or reporting. Luckily, this is very easy to do on the Xbox One and Xbox app.

How to Block or Report a User on the Xbox One

If a user has sent you content that is inappropriate or nasty, you have the option to either block or report them, or both. To do this on your Xbox One:

1. Press the Home button to bring up the sidebar.
2. Navigate to Parties & chats, then Chats, then select the chat with the user you want to report.
3. Press More and then View Profile.
4. Navigate to Report or Block and press it to reveal a couple of options, and then press either Report or Block depending on what you want to do.
5. If you press Report, a pre-set list of options will appear. Select the option that’s most relevant to why you are reporting the player.

You should now have blocked the user in question, so they can’t communicate with you anymore. It can be disheartening when you’ve had a negative experience with someone online, but it doesn’t always have to be like that. There are plenty of gaming forums you can use to talk about video games with people and maybe even make some new friends.

How to Block or Report a User on the Xbox App

You can block or report a user even if you’re away from your console, provided you have the Xbox app. To do this:

1. Once you’re logged in on the Xbox app, tap on the Social tab and then tap Chats.
2. Tap on the Chat with the user you wish to block or report.
3. Tap the user’s username at the top to be taken to their profile.
4. Tap the ellipsis icon, and then tap either Report, Block, or both, depending on what you want to do.
5. If you tapped Report, you’ll have to choose from a list of pre-set options as to why you wish to report the user.

After following these steps you should have successfully blocked or reported a user, preventing them from communicating with you further.
